Art Deco Kitchen Remodel in San Francisco Sunset District
This home underwent its second kitchen remodel in 30 years. The goal was a brighter, modern kitchen that would embrace the art deco architecture of the 1928 home.
A goal of the project was to transform the pantry into a “jewel box” to display generations of family china and silver.
Torbit Studio’s plan was to highlight the family collections using dark display cabinets that set the space off from the brighter kitchen cabinets. The effect was to create a small alcove that invites you to peer into the glass-faced cabinets. A review of wallpaper options led to this iconic design by Piero Fornasetti.
Design Solutions, a specialist in kitchen cabinetry and construction, brought Torbit Studio onto the project, and together our teams moved smoothly from design through build.
Since the completion of this project the client has entertained her family of 11 with great success.
